Deluxe Garden View Room:
 
Located on the ground floor of the hotel, these easily-accessed rooms are surrounded by flourishing bird of paradise flowers, bougainvillea, papyrus and frangipani trees. They enjoy views overlooking the tropical gardens, or with a private terrace shaded by tall trees.

Upon entering the room, there is an immediate sense of peace and space, resulting from the beautiful combination of parquet and traditional Laotian textiles that decorate the interior. Large windows, providing plenty of natural light, open onto the exotic gardens, and a conveniently arranged terrace offers privacy, comfort and tranquility.

With either two twin beds or one king sized bed, each room is over 60 square metres. A Laotian cotton sofa and low coffee table complement the living space.  Each room has a spacious bathroom with a terrazzo bath, a double sink counter, first class amenities and a separate W.C.

These rooms offer dramatic views of the Old City of Luang Prabang and of the occasional rooftop amongst palm and coconut trees. Further away, facing your room, the magnificent Phousy Temple rises over the town, set on a steep hill. The best view of this monument is from your window.

A Laotian cotton sofa and low coffee table complement the living-space; parquet floors, large windows and elaborate local textiles create a relaxing and stylish atmosphere. The most prized rooms of the property, the Deluxe Mountain Pool View Rooms overlook both our dramatic infinity pool and the magnificent Phousy Temple, which hovers over the town on a steep hill. Views at night, across the illuminated pool and the glittering temple opposite, are beyond compare.

Each room is over 60 square metres and comes with a king size bed. Located on the first floor, the Phou Vao Garden Suites are over 70 square meters. The ultimate in comfort, they feature a double bedroom as well as a separate living room with a large cotton sofa.  

A spacious bathroom offers first-class amenities and a separate toilet. Overlooking our tropical garden, the suites are serene and spacious, ideal for long breaks.  

With a king sized bed and an additional single bed in the well-equipped living room, the suites are finished in cottons, wood and local textiles.

“Favourite place in S.E. Asia”

Admittedly it was more like 3 years since I was here last...sorry it has taken this long to join trip advisor. I've stayed in a few Orient Express hotels and they have all been amazing. La residence is no exception. Great staff, notably Nuth who worked in the bar when I was there, she was fantastic. I could have chatted to her all day. A must go if you are in the area.

The rooms are beautiful, the pool is beautiful, the public spaces are beautiful, but it's the wonderful staff who make it all come together. They are talented, thoughtful and kind.
The person in the Boutique fixed our broken suitcase zipper at the request of her colleague at Reception. A gift we'd forgotten at a local restaurant was delivered to our room soon after we asked that Reception contact the place so we could pick it up the next day.
The extraordinary people of La Residence Phou Vao are the best.

It's expensive, but you knew that! It is also a quality establishment with excellent food and service.


“You can't get better than PERFECT!”

I stayed here for a week and didn't want to leave. The title says it all as this hotel is the gem of all gems. It is smart and comfortable but not too pretentious. The smiling staff and the managers are very professional and welcoming without being overbearing. NOTHING is too much for them and most of the time you don't even have to ask for anything as the true talent of being a good host is seeing what someone wants in advance and getting it for them and this sums up the high level of service in Phou Vao. The location is perfect as you are just a little bit above the town centre yet a free 5 minute hotel van or tuk tuk ride is all that is needed to get there. This means that you sleep well at night without the noise of the traffic and there always seems to be a ride when you need it. I never had to wait any longer than 5 minutes for a car. On top of that there is a shuttle service back from the town too. The food, whether it was in the restaurant or room service was delicious with both local and international choices. Breakfast was the best I have ever had in any hotel (and I stay in many similar graded hotels throughout the year) and there was always someone to hand to freshly cook pancakes, delicious spring rolls, omelettes with fillings of your choice etc. In fact, I don't think I had the same menu twice in the whole week I was there.
Free internet in the room was a plus and thanks to the managers endless patience with my non-technological mind, it worked beautifully on my laptop.
I am very fussy about bedding but it was top quality so I slept well. The spa is quiet, elegant and the massages 'to die for'. What more can I add except THANK YOU Phou Vao for making my stay a very special one and I will be back as soon as possible!
