“Lovely stay”

The room was was a good size with a very comfortable bed and attractive decor. Nice bathroom with a huge shower. Staff was very helpful and friendly- The front office was so nice. They gave us many information about Vientiane city. We really liked this hotel and can highly recommend.

“A terrific hotel”

This is really quite a lovely hotel. I gather it dates originally from the French Colonia era, but was essentially rebuilt about 15 years ago. As a result it has every bit of the charm of a traditional old building, plus things work.

Our room is large, quiet, high-ceilinged and well-proportioned. The big bed has a good mattress. The restaurant is quite good. The staff is professional, friendly, efficient. When I finish this I'm going to try the pool, which looks great.

It all sounds like faint praise, I know, but believe me, in Vientiane, which is classic Graham Greene country, it's not. If you come here, you will be glad you stayed at this hotel.


“Great time at Vientiane.”

We spent 4 nights at Settha Palace Hotel, a lovely place well located in Vientiane. We appreciate the exquisite beauty of this hotel and surrounding. The whole place was served with relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. The building in colonial style is fantastic and elegant. The room is decorated with uniqueness and great taste. (of course, well furnished and equipped ) The restaurant was amazing! The food was excellent. We enjoyed French cuisine and good selection of wine. Nice swimming pool but area pool could be cleaner. Staff very dedicated and service oriented but a bit weak in English. Definitely a great hotel, probably one of the best in Lao.

“Very impressed”

This hotel was outstanding, being an exemplary French colonial refurbishment with world class management and staff. Very impressed with the restaurant run by the German Chef/General Manager. Unhesitatingly recommended for a stay in Vientiane.

“Charming hotel in central and convenient location”

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights after my clients decided to transfer their stay from the bad experience of yellow shower water at the Novotel Hotel. The Settha Palace is certainly a very nice and charming boutique hotel and has the old world charm, adding on to the experience in Laos. The hotel staff are incredibly helpful and even helped me send my shoe for repair when the heel came off. Thomas the hotel manager and his staff are extremely nice and friendly and makes the stay all the more welcoming.

The hotel has a good breakfast with good selection of spread. Dining at the hotel was also a good experience - we tried the lunch and dinner while we stayed at the hotel. The hotel chef is a German chef who does good western cuisine and local Laos and Thai food. He personally comes and ensures the food is to your liking. They have a good selection of wine.

The rooms are clean and comfortable and the toilets and bathroom what you would expect from a good 4 to 5 star hotel. On the whole, the hotel is maintained very well.

The hotel is located a short walk to the main fountain where there are restaurants, shops and spa and is only a few minutes drive to the Mekong River area where there are more shops and restaurants if you wanted to try other restaurants.

This hotel is a hidden gem and allows you to stay in a hotel in a good location and yet it has retained its charm and is quiet for a relaxing stay.
