Beautiful hotel in Siem Reap !

We just spent 4 nights in Siem Reap. We were delighted with the hotel Journeys Within chose for us. It is a beautifully decorated hotel with four lovely fish ponds in the central court. The excellent buffet is served pool-side. The buffet caters to Western and Eastern tastes including an egg preparation station.
We wondered why no one seemed to use the pool until the last afternoon when we had a chance to try it. It is a large beautiful pool but very cool in December (I'm not sure it is ever warm since it gets no sun). But, being hardy Canadians, we jumped in and enjoyed an invigorating swim.
Our room (a Delux king) was huge with very new fixtures including a huge tub (for warming up after the swim!) It is excellent value for the money. Do check out the "ultimate back massage" a full hour of massage for just $12 (not just your back).
The staff do not speak much English so it is hard to get much assistance. But very polite (as are all Cambodians). Beds are hard (apparently Cambodia style).
Also, check out the Eat Khmer Restaurant to the left of the hotel about 5 blocks down the main road (next the Madame Butterfly). Excellent food at a great price. Madame Butterfly is also good but pricey. Try to Banana Leaf salad with chicken at either restaurant.

Delightful clean & welcoming!

Arriving here from a 5 star hotel in Bangkok, I have to say this hotel deserves more stars. It was exceptionally clean, the pool area small compared to larger hotels was a joy.
One early evening I found my husband was talking to a lady 'Yin' who turned out to be one of the managers who was helpful attentive & very mindful of our comfort during our stay, we noticed that she spoke to a number of guests & appeared to be on a permanent tour of inspection of the hotel.
The location did not bother us, however I could understand that the walking distance to the main St may be a problem for some, but plenty of little bars along the way!

Awesome Spacious Room !

I think I got a much larger room than the others in my small group of 8. Just lucked out somehow. The hotel had a very nice gift shop, sitting area and bar, breakfast area - included, some tables at pool side. Lounge area with floor level lounges - very unique overlooking 4 fish pools and a view 5 stories up. Stayed 3 nights. Non restricted TV, safety box, fridge, coffee making area and more.

Clean, friendly, quiet, great breakfast buffet !

We stayed 4 nights at this hotel, and used our days for touring the Angkor Wat region, and other local activities. Late arrival is fine; storing luggage after check out until our late night departure was also fine, and free of charge. Breakfast buffet is available 6 to 10 AM daily, and included in the low cost of the room. This hotel is off the main road, so it is quiet all day and night. It's a small hotel, with a homey feeling. If you don't mind the very firm beds, you will do well to stay at the Angkor Home Hotel.

Liked — Breakfast buffet is good Hotel is newer, clean, modern, well decorated Staff are friendly and helpful Free internet in lobby computers
Disliked — Pool is too cold to swim in January Beds are Asian style--too firm for many Westerners
Tips/Secrets — You can get a driver and tour guide for three days for the archeological sites (3 day pass for admissions is currently $40 per person), and leave yourself a free day to see other local attractions, with tuk-tuk transportation, which is $2 per ride, in town.
