Siem Reap - is a province located in northwestern Cambodia, on the shores of the Tonle Sap lake. The provincial capital is Siem Reap. Detailed itinerary:

check  Day 01 - Phnom Penh (D)

The first day is a get together day, designed for you to meet the other tour guests from different parts of the world. You will meet in the hotel lobby at 6 pm. Phnom Penh is Cambodia’s capital city with a population of just over half a million, and your tour leader will take this opportunity to describe your stay in Cambodia. Following the meeting, we will have a welcome dinner. Please note that your       arrival transfer is included, so please be sure to provide us with your flight arrival details, so your transfer can be arranged. Over night in Phnom Penh hotel.

check  Day 02 - Phnom Penh City Tours (B / L)

After breakfast we will drive about 15 kilometers to the Choeng Ek Killing Fields and then to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum. Also known as S21, it was used by the Khmers Rouge when they came to power in 1975. The haunting pictures of the faces of the hundreds who were tortured there line the walls inside the old school. Most of the 17,000 people detained at Toul Sleng were eventually taken to the Killing Fields. We break for lunch, then visit The Royal Palace complex, the Throne Hall or Vinichhay Temple, the Chan Chaya Pavillon (where traditional dances took place). Included in the tour is the Silver Pagoda, which is an amazing place with the floor covered with 5000 silver plates, and housing the Preah Keo, or emerald Buddha, made of Baccarat crystal. In front stands a 90 kg golden Buddha studded with 9584 diamonds. Then on to the National Museum, home to a vast collection of Khmer art and sculptures. Overnight in Phnom Penh hotel, Breakfast and Lunch included.

check  Day 03 - Phnom Penh - Stung Treng Province (B)

After breakfast, we journey to Stung Treng, then take a boat ride to the Thala Bariwatt historical site. Please note that today is a fairly long drive. Stung Treng  is on Cambodia’s northern border with Laos and the point where the Mekong River enters Cambodia. Stung Treng was a part of Laos when the Khmer Empire was defeated, but reverted back to Cambodia during the French colonial period. Even today you can hear Lao spoken in the town. Overnight in Stung Treng hotel, Breakfast included.

check  Day 04 - Stung Treng - Banlung (Ratanakiri Province) (B)

In the morning we drive to Banlung, the capital of Ratanakiri Province. Then to Boeng Yeak Lom Lake, an inactive volcanic lake. This is a popular spot for swimming and picnicking, then we head for the Ka Chan Waterfall. As the day draws to a close, we will walk up Eisey Pak Ta Mak Hill to admire the beautiful red sunset. Over night in Banlung hotel, Breakfast included.

check  Day 05 - Banlung - Ven Sai District (B)

Today starts with a drive out to Ven Sai Village to visit ethnic minority groups. We will take an hour boat trip up the Sen River to visit several ethnic groups, the first of which is the Kachon Hill Tribe. In this village we experience the daily life of people who live a life completely different than that in other parts of the world. Then we return to Banlung Town. Overnight in Banlung hotel, Breakfast included.

check  Day 06 - Banlung - Stung Treng  - Kratie & Kampong Cham (B)

This morning we travel to Kratie via Stung Treng, and take a boat to observe the fresh water Dolphins in the Mekong River. Approx. 20km north of Kratie, at the village of Kampi, the swirling waters of the Mekong are considered to be the best place to see the critically endangered Mekong Irrawaddy Dolphin. As few as 80 dolphins remain in these waters, and while there are ongoing and comprehensive conservation projects underway, dolphin mortality still remains high.
En route to Kampong Cham, we will stop at a rubber plantation. The provincial capital, Kampong Cham, is on the west bank of the Mekong River and is important for transportation, trade and agriculture. Overnight in Kampong Cham hotel, Breakfast included.

check  Day 07 - Kampong Cham - Kampong Thom - Siem Reap (B)

On the way to Kampong Thom, we will stop at the historical hill temples of Phnom Srei (female hill) and Phnom Pros (male hill). Before arriving in Siem Reap we will explore the Sambor Prei Kuk Temple Group. Sambor Prei Kuk was the capital of the Kingdom of Chenla during the reign of the early-7th century King Isanavarman, and is the site of a most impressive group of pre-Angkorian structures. There are more than 100 small temples, scattered through the forest. We then continue our journey to Siem Reap. Overnight in Siem Reap hotel, Breakfast included.

check  Day 08 - Siem Reap - Angkor Complex (B)

After breakfast, we start our visit of Angkor with the Royal city of Angkor Thom. We begin at the South Gate, with its well-restored statues of asuras (demons) and gods lining the bridge, and finish at the quiet area of the Preah Pithu Temples. On our way, we will stop at the famous Bayon Temple, a pyramid temple decorated with approx. 200 gigantic carved heads. We will also visit the Royal Enclosure, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. We also visit Ta Prom Temple known as the Jungle temple. Next we will explore Angkor Wat until sunset. This famous temple is believed to be the world’s largest religious monument, and is certainly one of the most spectacular.     Overnight in Siem Reap hotel, Breakfast included.

check  Day 09 - Siem Reap - Banteay Srey - Tonle Sap Lake (B /D)

This day takes us 35km north of Siem Reap to the temple of Banteay Srei, which dates from 967. Banteay Srei is known for its outstanding pink sandstone carvings. Then we go on to the Landmine Museum and the Pre Rup Temples, and we will have lunch in a village nearby. In the afternoon, we go to Tonle Sap Lake, Asia’s largest lake. It boasts the biggest harvest of fresh water fish in the world, and swells to ten times its normal size during the wet season. We take a boat trip to observe how local people go about their daily lives. A visit to a fish farm, a floating school and a local market provides a rewarding experience for the day. Overnight in Siem Reap hotel, Breakfast & Dinner included.

check  Day 10 - Siem Reap Free day (B)

Today is free for you to explore Siem Reap Town. You will want to see the Old Market area which was the French Quarter. This is a good place for shopping at the old market and for trying delicious Khmer cuisine. There are also night markets a short distance from downtown. Overnight in Siem Reap hotel, Breakfast included.

check  Day 11 - Siem Reap Departure (B)

This is departure day and there are no activities planned. Check-out is at 12-noon, and you are free to leave at any time.

 Traveller’s comment - Impress Travel

Good Morning Tony, so very nice to hear from you again.

I received lots of emails from Kate during their holiday in Vietnam and can assure you that they had a truly wonderful trip and enjoyed it as much as we did.

They were very grateful that we had recommended Impress Travel to them.

They have not yet returned to Tasmania as they are spending some time in South Australia with their daughter, but we have spoken to them with regard to catching up with them shortly after their return.

We definitely hope to return to Vietnam in the future and would like to bring some more friends when we do.

I think I mentioned previously that our youngest son is getting married next February, so next year we will need to assist financially with that, but hopefully in 2012.

I couldn’t convince my son and his fiancée to come to Vietnam for their honeymoon, they have settled on Langkawi, but I am sure they will get to your country one day.

They love to travel very much.

We have received nice emails from Thoi and Cindy (our guides in Hoi An and Hanoi) which is really good.

From our trip, there is not a thing you need to improve, I will mention to Kate and Peter that you would appreciate their feedback as well on their tour.

It is the first day of spring here today and hopefully the weather will begin to warm up.  We took our grandchildren up the mountains to the snow last weekend which was beautiful, but I long for some warmer days.

Thankyou for your email again, I appreciate you keeping in touch, be assured we will continue to recommend your travel agency to any other friends wishing to tour Vietnam.

Kind Regards,

Janeece Cook,

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your email. Sorry I have been slow getting back to you, but since returning home we have been busy (as you can imagine). Both Peter and I are back at work now, but we feel very refreshed and revitalised from our fantastic holiday. We loved everything we saw. The highlights for me were the Mekong Delta, Hoi An and Sapa.

If we had the good fortune to return to Vietnam we would like to do a homestay either in the Mekong Delta or Sapa. We absolutely loved those areas and could easily have spent more time there. We also liked Nha Trang and would liked to have stayed there for another day too.

It was just wonderful to have a guide and driver meet us at the airport and drive us around to the various attractions.

I have enclosed a photo of you and Peter taken in Hanoi.

Thank you once again Tony. We very much appreciate what you have done for us while we were in Vietnam.

Kind regards,

Kate and Peter
