Hanoi Cooking Centre offers hands-on cooking classes and short courses in a relaxed atmosphere, designed by renowned Melbourne chef Tracey Lister, co-author of KOTO - A Culinary Journey Through Vietnam.
Situated at 44 Chau Long Street, nestled on the edge of Hanoi's famous Old quarter and close to picturesque Truc Bach and Hanoi West Lake, the Hanoi Cooking Centre offers visitors a truly unique Vietnam experience, one to treasure, and share with friends and family.
With Tracey Lister, Linh Dinh Phung, and Chef Lan, one of the new breed of Vietnamese chefs (& also a KOTO Graduate) discover new and exciting flavours, ingredients and foods.
Develop a deep appreciation of the flavours, history and culture of Vietnamese cuisine by taking one of the Hanoi Cooking Centre’s Vietnamese Cooking Classes or Street Eats and Market Tours:
Vietnamese Cooking Classes
• Ha Noi Vietnam and the Northern Highlands – featuring dishes that are truly Vietnamese, but highlight the Chinese culinary influence in Hanoi and the Northern Highlands
• Food from the coast - dishes built around fresh fish and the creative use of aromatics and spices, not to mention, for the Vietnamese, the comforting aroma of nuoc mam, fish sauce.
• Vietnamese Street Food - take home some of the hustle and bustle of Ha Noi's unique street life by learning how to make some of the delicious food you have enjoyed on the streets of Vietnam.
• Vegan Tofu cookery - Vietnam produces some of the best tofu in the world, so make the most of it. In this class we will make
some tofu dishes rarely seen outside the pagodas.
• Spring Rolls
Not just prawn and pork. The humble spring roll reflects the changes in Vietnamese cuisine as you travel
the length of Viet Nam. In this class you will prepare the hearty seafood and mayonnaise from the north
to the fragrant rolls of the south.
• BBQ and salads - On the hot and humid summer days in Viet Nam there is always the faint smell of smoke in the air coming
from the countless charcoal braziers on which family and restaurant meals are prepared.
I would like to present to you some Vietnamese dishes that perfectly suits a casual dining style
Street Eats & Market Tour :
See, taste and discover the local food scene by experiencing some of Hanoi’s quintessential street food. Experience a bustling local market where your chef will demystify the local produce, and encourage you to taste along the way. Tracey, Linh and Lan will share some of their favourite eating places in Ha Noi with you to explore further.
Classes and tours are available daily from Monday through to Saturday and cater for groups up to 16 people.

Best time spent in all of Vietnam! Amazing food! So much fun!
My husband and I took part in the "Food from the Coast" cooking class at Hanoi Cooking Centre. We wanted to do a cooking class in Hanoi and found the Centre through Tripadvisor reviews and message boards. We absolutely LOVED our experience there---everything from the food to the staff to the tour of the market are just top notch! It was absolutely the most fun morning we spent in all of Vietnam! Tracey is so knowledgeable and Mr. Linh was so friendly and great to talk to about Hanoi, Vietnam, and the wider world! At first glance, it seems slightly pricey, but when you factor in the great food, amazing class, wine and beer and top notch service, it was really quite a bargain! We had such a great time there and will recommend it to all of our friends. They also have a great cafe and bookstore in the back. If you want an unforgettable experience in Vietnam, make time to take this class in Hanoi! You won't regret it.
Happy time at Hanoi Cooking Centre
Hanoi Cooking centre is an excellent place and I'm extremely satisfied with my cooking class and my mother had happy time in there.
The hotel staff called to Hanoi cooking class to reserve for us before we came there. When arrive at the cooking centre, we were given an incredible fruit tea local to vietnam, which was fantastic, especially for us.
The staff were absolutely lovely and were happy to help us with vietnam cooking and their instructions were very informative, answering all the questions that I asked them. I will come back there on near future with my friend. Highly recommend that place to traveler.
Must do the cooking class
Recommended by a friend and so glad we did it, made our stay in Hanoi. The course offers excellent value for money. The tour around the market was informative and introduced us to all of the foods we had been wondering about as we wandered the city, and how the vietnamese used them.
We then went back to the uber-clean and beautiful Hanoi Cooking Centre and made mouth watering street food delicacies. The instruction catered for the novice to the budding chef, and was delivered expertly by Tracy and her vietnamese comi chefs. Our food cooking was indispersed with food demonstrations and explanations and trials of other vietnamese delicacies, including things that we had seen and expressed interest in in the market.
This was followed by lunch consisting of the food we and the chefs had made with drinks provided, all included in the reasonable price of the course. Class size was small (only 9 people) and a really good atmosphere, with individual attention throughout.
Would definately recommend this to anyone interested in food or just wants to know more about what they might encounter / eat along the way in Vietnam.
