Saigon city
Day 2 : Saigon – Cao Dai temple – Cu Chi tunnels (Breakfast, Lunch)

AM: Getting started at 08 am from your hotel, transferring to Tay Ninh, near the Cambodian border, is home to the unique Cao Dai sect, whose patron saints include Joan of Arc, Victor Hugo and Winston Churchill to name a few. The religion is an odd mix of Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and Christianity.

PM: After lunch, we transfer to Cu Chi tunnels for visiting the Cu Chi outdoor museum to learn about the infamous tunnel systems of the Viet Cong. Take this opportunity to get a unique understanding of the guerillas underground fight strategies during the war and crawl through 50 - 100 meters of the 200 km tunnel system. On the way back to Saigon, local rice paper workshops, and views of Vietnam countryside and paddy fields are pleasant sights. We'll drop you off at your hotel around 5:30 pm.

Cao Dai temple
Day 3 : Saigon – Cai Be floating market - Saigon (Breakfast, Lunch)

AM: 0800 depart for a fascinating drive through rural Vietnam to Cai Be. As you leave the bustling city of Ho Chi Minh city the scenery changes for the lush rice paddies. This area is referred to locally as the 'rice bowl of Vietnam'. On arrival disembark on your private boat for a trip to Cai Be floating market. See the larger boats in the market, each selling mostly one product, this is truly a different experience and one you will remember.

Continuing downriver towards Vinh Long, the journey takes one hour and a long the way will stop to visit some of the picturesque islands that lie in the centre of the Mekong River.
Stop at Binh Hoa Phuoc Island and see the delta's second most famous produce after rice, tropical fruits. Stroll through the orchids on the islands, which grow such fruits as Longan, Sapodilla, and Durian whilst also sampling these exotic fruits.
Enjoy lunch on Binh Hoa Phuoc Island and sample the local delicacy Elephant Ear Fish.

PM: Cruise the back waters using the local means of transport, hand paddle boats and on 'Monkey Bridges', small rickety structures that look fairly easy to walk on but are harder than you think.
Take a look also at the local brick kilns and brick production which is popular in this area where more and more houses are now made of brick.
Late afternoon departure from Vinh Long for the drive back to Ho Chi Minh city where you will arrive around 1700.

Good Morning Tony, so very nice to hear from you again.

I received lots of emails from Kate during their holiday in Vietnam and can assure you that they had a truly wonderful trip and enjoyed it as much as we did.

They were very grateful that we had recommended Impress Travel  to them.

They have not yet returned to Tasmania as they are spending some time in South Australia with their daughter, but we have spoken to them with regard to catching up with them shortly after their return.

We definitely hope to return to Vietnam in the future and would like to bring some more friends when we do.

I think I mentioned previously that our youngest son is getting married next February, so next year we will need to assist financially with that, but hopefully in 2012.

I couldn’t convince my son and his fiancée to come to Vietnam for their honeymoon, they have settled on Langkawi, but I am sure they will get to your country one day.

They love to travel very much.

We have received nice emails from Thoi and Cindy (our guides in Hoi An and Hanoi) which is really good.

From our trip, there is not a thing you need to improve, I will mention to Kate and Peter that you would appreciate their feedback as well on their tour.

It is the first day of spring here today and hopefully the weather will begin to warm up.  We took our grandchildren up the mountains to the snow last weekend which was beautiful, but I long for some warmer days.

Thankyou for your email again, I appreciate you keeping in touch, be assured we will continue to recommend your travel agency to any other friends wishing to tour Vietnam.

Kind Regards,

Janeece Cook,

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your email. Sorry I have been slow getting back to you, but since returning home we have been busy (as you can imagine). Both Peter and I are back at work now, but we feel very refreshed and revitalised from our fantastic holiday. We loved everything we saw. The highlights for me were the Mekong Delta, Hoi An and Sapa.

If we had the good fortune to return to Vietnam we would like to do a homestay either in the Mekong Delta or Sapa. We absolutely loved those areas and could easily have spent more time there. We also liked Nha Trang and would liked to have stayed there for another day too.

It was just wonderful to have a guide and driver meet us at the airport and drive us around to the various attractions.

I have enclosed a photo of you and Peter taken in Hanoi.

Thank you once again Tony. We very much appreciate what you have done for us while we were in Vietnam.

Kind regards,

Kate and Peter
